Yes, that's right, Cade is petting a snake! Our library offered a "Meet the Reptiles" day this week, and we saw a gigantic yellow snake, several smaller snakes, and a HUGE tortoise. I mean, this thing was HUGE. It was just roaming freely around the meeting room and was not bothered at all by all of the people around. The owner said that tortoises are like horses and are just born to roam. Very interesting! All of these reptiles were rescued either from homes where they were abused or rescued from the wild following an injury. I'm so glad there are people who will care for these not-so-cuddly creatures!
Cade is very into dragons right now and was very excited to pet a bearded dragon lizard. As much as he liked it, I do not thing Holly and Sarge would like it if we got one as a pet.
(For those of you who do not know Russell, he is absolutely petrified of snakes. He will not be happy to see that we allowed his honorary nephew this close to one!)
