We spent New Years Eve with the fabulous Hull family (and Cathey!) in Bastrop. Once upon a time, our NYE gatherings there consisted of lots of food, games, and merrily ringing in the new year. Now, our gatherings start early in the morning, consist of kid-friendly snacks and juice, chasing kids around, and short conversations, and we part ways after lunch for the kids' naps. Thankfully, our friendship loves all kinds of gatherings and we love getting together with our families. It is great that our kids can play so happily together even though they only see each other a few times a year. We started out playing trucks upstairs.
Lovely Lily
We also had a nature walk outside through the piney woods
And played with dinosaurs inside. Thanks, Chris and Karen, for having us to Bastrop again! We can't wait for Russell to join us next year!
On New Year's Eve night, Chance and I got to go on a great, last-minute date for a movie and sushi. Little Fockers is hilarious! Thanks, Nana and Papa, for keeping Cade for us!
I wish I could say we stayed up to greet 2011 at midnight, but we had to get some sleep, because one of my favorite things to do this time of year is ORGANIZE! We've had quite the influx of toys lately, and Cade's room was looking a little chaotic.
Notice he was actually dumping out one of his bins as I took the picture. Did I mention he's entered a destructive phase?
In an attempt to bring order to his room, we purchased some colorful toy bins that will hopefully contain some of his things. I had way too much fun sorting everything out and parking the cars and trucks in the "garage". I had to take this picture while he was taking a bath last night, because his room will never look like this again.
I also had the idea this year of starting a tradition of taking a picture of our family each year on New Year's Day. Nothing fancy, just a picture of what we did that day. My parents came to visit us yesterday, so my mom took the picture. It is one of the best ever, I think :)
HAPPY new year from the HAPPY Locklears!
