Things we love this month
Warning - lots of catching up, so very long post ahead...
As we get ready for Valentine's Day (as I write this, it is less than 2 hours away), I wanted to share with you some things that we love doing this month.
We love - house projects! Actually, we DIDN'T exactly love the clean-up project that resulted from the ice maker in our freezer sending a steady stream of water into our kitchen all day while we were gone, but we do love that Cade was so eager to help by vacuuming up the water! And we love our awesome neighbors the Goodletts for letting us borrow their wet-dry vac. This experience taught us several things: 1. After weeks of wondering, our ice maker is in fact broken; 2. We seriously needed to clean out the freezer; 3. A wet-dry vac is a fabulous invention; 4. Our tile looks amazingly clean after being submerged in water for about 10 hours.

We love - our friends the Johnson family! Cade and Alyssa made a long-awaited visit to Houston last Friday to see Kelsey, Natalie, and Henry. "Baby" Henry is absolutely not a baby anymore, and it was amazing to see him running around! Cade and Natalie had not seen each other since Christmas, but did not miss a beat and started playing hide-and-seek within 10 seconds of our arrival. My sweet friend Kelsey always has the best ideas for our kids, and she had all the fixings ready for homemade pizzas.
This is my favorite picture from the playdate. Our kids love being silly together!

Check out those heart-shaped pepperonis! I have such a talented friend :)
We love - working out together! On Saturday morning, I led the warmup at the Walk Across Texas kickoff at Post Oak Mall. My parents and Cade were in the audience, or so I thought, until I looked down and saw that I had a little helper on the stage! At first, he just stood there and watched (since I wouldn't let him have the microphone).
And then he stretched a little with us. Cade stole the show!

We love - day trips! Saturday afternoon, we had an excursion to the Barrington Living History Farm
at Washington on the Brazos. It was really interesting to listen to the volunteers explain how a farm in the 1850s operated. We fed the chickens and watched the ladies gather fresh eggs.
One of Cade's favorite parts of the farm was seeing the oxen. I have really never seen such huge animals up close. They were very well-behaved, though!
Cade is also "loving" skipping his naps these days. On Saturday, he started his day at 4:20 am, so by about 1:30, he was pretty zoned out. Thank goodness for car naps, because that is the only way we can get him to rest in the afternoons. Opa's shoulders were a pretty popular place by the end of our farm visit.
We love - Learning how to play Wahoo with Great Oma - another fun board game to add to our collection! Cade listened so well to Great Oma's instructions, and it was so special to play a game with him that Chris and I played with our Oma and Opa at their house. Many, many great memories and laughs have been shared around this game board!
Cade was definitely the lucky one in this game, and he thoroughly enjoyed calling out "Wa-hoo" when he got to send someone back to their start.
We had a great time celebrating Chris's birthday for the first time in Texas in several years!
And once again, Cade loves Kitty. No blog post in the near future will be complete without a picture of Cade and Sarge. They are very close these days, and here is Sarge serving as a foot rest for Cade. Such a good cat.
