Our trip started with a 4 hour layover at the DFW airport. We walked and walked and walked, and found a yoga studio! I was so excited to do a little bit of yoga before getting on the plane again.
Almost as soon as we arrived, we hit the casino in our hotel (Planet Hollywood). It was not a very successful first attempt.
We ate dinner that night at a fabulous restaurant called Koi. Highly recommended by one of my coworkers, it has delicious sushi and a unique and beautiful atmosphere. This was a great way to officially kick off our Vegas vacation. If you're reading this, thank you Ledric!
After dinner we walked across the street to see the Bellagio fountains. The only other time I've seen these was on Ocean's Eleven, so I was a bit disappointed that we actually had to share the view with a zillion other people and couldn't stand right in front like the actors did!
The good thing about having a zillion people around, though, was finding a nice only semi-drunk person to take our picture.
Then we walked around a little to see all of the lights
And we found Cade's favorite Transformer - Bumblebee!
The next morning we walked down the strip towards the MGM Grand and found the M&M store! 4 stories of anything and everything M&M. It was magical!
One of Chance's favorite Vegas stories is that the airport yoga studio and the M&M store were my favorite parts of the trip. He may not be entirely wrong!
Later that afternoon we got ready for our Cirque du Solei show. On the way, we had our first attempt at our anniversary photo. I had a great idea to make a sign that resembled a football scoreboard that we would hold in our anniversary photo. I actually made the sign in Vegas and carried it around with us waiting for just the right photo op. Chance loved this. Our first picture was taken in front of the door to our favorite casino, Paris.
This picture was OK, but was not quite what I was hoping for. So, the search for the perfect setting carried on.
Fortunately, our next stop was the gondola ride in the Venetian. We had a hilarious gondolier and really nice co-riders, and they took this picture for us.
Now this is more what I had in mind! Happy 10th Anniversary to us! (And goodbye to the sign)
We ate dinner at a tasty Mexican food restaurant and saw the Cirque du Solei show, Mystere. Anyone who has an opportunity to see one of these shows should take it. It is truly amazing! We both loved it so much!
After the show, more gambling at Paris. We did a little better this time and it was really fun to be there later at night and have more of the "Vegas" experience.
The next morning, more walking! Seriously, we have never walked this much in our entire lives. This time we headed to the Luxor. It was huge and beautiful!
Then we went back to the Bellagio to see the gardens. I was happy to see how many things are made out of flowers, and Chance was happy that we finally found something free to do :)
Then we walked to the Mirage to see Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden, where the white tigers live.
After dinner we headed once again to Paris, where we had the best night of gambling yet. You can't see it on the screen, but Chance got 3 royal flushes after finishing off the $5 I had been gambling on for over 2 hours. It was very exciting!
We did not bring home this much money... easy come, easy go, apparently. Oh well!
Since we did not consume enough calories while on vacation (ha!), we capped off our trip with a Cinnabon at the airport before we left. I don't think I've ever had one of these before. It was a very sweet ending to our trip!
Thanks to all of our Vegas-going friends who gave us advice on where to eat and what to do, and a HUGE thank you to Nana and Papa for taking care of Cade while we were gone! I'll post pictures of their adventures soon.
