After making the most of our day at Sea World, we went to Aquatica the next day. We figured we would be there for a little while and then find something to do until we met my parents for dinner. Wrong! Both kids had so much fun that it was hard to leave in time to get to the restaurant! Cade is an adrenaline-junkie on land and in the water, and this was one place where I didn't mind riding tons of rides with him. Annie absolutely loved all of the rides that she was tall enough to go on, and also loved the area that was just for kids under 48". We have very few pictures from our day at Aquatica, but we made lots of fun memories.
One lovely, but probably unnecessary, splurge was on a cabana. We weren't sure how crowded it would be, and we wanted to make sure we had a place to sit. We could have easily left our stuff in a locker and eaten lunch at the huge, covered picnic area, but it is hard to pass up seeing your name on your own little yellow tent. Plus, Annie was so cute sitting in her lounge chair. AND, cabana guests get early entrance into the park and a personal escort!
Annie did tire out before it was time to leave, but this gave the 2 of us a chance to visit Discovery Point, an quiet area of the park with indoor aquariums filled with dolphins and sharks (not together, obviously). It was so peaceful and Annie made herself at home watching them and then resting on a bench.
I carried Annie on my shoulders the whole way back to the cabana and I'm pretty sure I shrank about 2 inches. But it was worth it to give her the break she needed before cleaning up and heading to Cracker Barrel to meet Oma and Opa!
On our last day, Chance and I had planned to take the kids to the Alamo and explore downtown San Antonio. But our lessons from the previous 3 days led us to ask the kids an all important question: "Would you like to go back to Sea World on the way home?" The answer was YES! I think they were shocked that we would let such magic happen. We took just one picture and then made the most of riding as many rides as possible. We soaked ourselves multiple times on the Rio Loco, Annie braved Atlantis again and loved it this time, and I lost count of the number of times that Cade rode the Steel Eel.
After a late and delicious lunch at Whatabuger, we made the long drive home and made plans for a simple, kid-centered vacation next year. We are so thankful for this time together!
