An Early Thanksgiving

Let our holiday festivities begin! We celebrated our first Thanksgiving with Alyssa's family in New Braunfels last weekend and had a great time! When you only have 6 people there for the celebration, and 3 of those are grandparents or great-grandparents, things quickly become all about the toddler. Which, of course, Cade has no problem with :) Saturday morning brought an adventure to Opa's work for Cade to explore all of the big machines.

A looooong way down

Boys of all ages like playing on the equipment

Can I climb these?

We must find a stick everywhere we go

Saturday night we had a family dinner and then went to Great Oma's house for delicious pumpkin pie. Cade had lots of fun re-arranging Oma's yard decorations, and she is probably still finding things he moved for her!

I always feel like Thanksgiving gets passed over because everyone is getting ready for Christmas. But, we jumped on the bandwagon and welcomed Santa to downtown New Braunfels on Friday night. At least I blogged about Thanksgiving first! :) The downtown tree lighting is a spectacular event in New Braunfels. All of the downtown streets close, the stores stay open late, and nearly the entire town gathers to welcome Santa on a fire truck. It took us much longer than expected to get to New Braunfels (first road trip while potty training), so we arrived just as Santa was driving by. You should have seen Chance and me running at full speed, carrying Cade, hoping that the shortcuts I remembered were still open, and trying to catch up to Santa on his fire truck. It was definitely memorable, and thank goodness no pictures were taken. We got to downtown just as Santa was driving by, and saw Oma and Opa right away. Cade was so excited to see then that thankfully he (almost) forgot that we didn't actually see Santa.

A cookie from Two Tarts bakery solves everything!

We saw my friend Jennifer and her family and of course had to attempt a picture. Just in case you thought Cade had started being friends with the camera, here is a reminder of his true feelings.

More Thanksgiving festivities to come this week!
