Gone Fishin'

A few weekends ago, Chance had a rare Saturday off (yippee!!) so we had a family fishing trip. Fortunately, we did not have to go far... we ventured to John Crompton Park in College Station, where Chance and Cade fished a few months ago while I was at a yoga training. They had a VERY successful fishing trip last time, so of course Cade's expectations were nice and high as we headed there again.

I hadn't seen Cade fish in a long time, and at first I was amazed at what a big boy he was with holding his own pole and being very involved in everything.

My favorite picture - so serious

His interest in actual fishing didn't last long... he was more interested in smushing all of the ants around us and running over whenever we (Chance and me) actually caught anything. We had an interesting assortment of catches:

Soft shell turtle

Several perch

The same unfortunate red-eared slider turtle was caught 4 times

And a big catfish! This was what Cade wanted to catch the most and we were very happy when the big fish finally bit the line as we were close to running out of bait.

One of the last casts of the day

Time to head back to the truck!

This park also has a nice playground so we stopped there for awhile

No playground trip is complete without big jumps to Daddy!

We are so proud of Chance for the job that he has and love going to his games, but nothing compares to Chance actually being home on the weekends and getting to spend good family time together.
