She's One!

One year ago, I posted "She's Here!" One short year later, Annabeth Cate has grown into an amazing and active toddler! How must faster can things go, I wonder?

Our little family is more complete with Annie, and we all love her smiles, hugs, and tackles. Yes, she tackles! Sometimes Annie seems to think she is a five year old boy, not a one year old little girl. But she is also our little lady, with her crossing her ankles when she eats, her love for her doll, and of course, her high pitched screams.

Here is Annabeth's 12 month update:

Eating: We are doing a lot more finger foods since she cannot get fed at daycare anymore. She does OK sometimes, and other times we worry that she is existing only on fruit, but Dr. Parr says that things always even out eventually! Annie's consistent favorites are macaroni and cheese, strawberries, apples, pears, and peaches. She sometimes likes hot dog, carrots, avocado, chicken, and cheese quesadilla. Applesauce squeezies are a new love, and super convenient at Cade's soccer practices! We have eliminated one of Annie's nighttime feedings (wa hoo!), but she and I are happy to hold onto the bedtime feeding.

Sleeping: Annie's bedtime is still 7:00 and if I nurse her around 5:00 am, she will sometimes go back to sleep until about 6:45. Other days, she stays awake after that feeding, making her an early riser like her brother. Those mornings are tougher. The biggest change is that she is officially down to one nap! Annie moving to the "big kid" room at daycare means that she only has an afternoon nap. She has done well with that at school (except for falling asleep on the playground one morning!) and we will see how she does with it this weekend at home. Her first day in the Ducks room wore her out! She slept the whole way home and almost the whole time at Cade's karate class.

Growing: Annie weighed 21.3 pounds at a doctor's appointment a few weeks ago, but she has not had her 12 month appointment yet, so we don't have any official stats. She mainly wears 12-18 month clothes and is getting really long in her carseat! We'll be purchasing a big convertible one soon.

Enjoying: Moving around! We very rarely see Annie crawl anymore, unless it is over the rungs of a dining room chair or under the table. She walks much faster than she did even a few weeks ago, and she seems proud of herself! Walking is so much fun that she wants to do it instead of being carried sometimes, which is great fun if we are not in a hurry. Cade is still her greatest joy and she wants nothing more than to be with him. He also makes her laugh uncontrollably! Holly and Sarge are very patient with her rough petting, and she loves them too. Annie loves rolling balls, baths, being outside, listening to music, and putting on her crocs. This girl has started loving shoes at a very young age!

Annie had a very fun birthday on Tuesday. We started the day by singing to her, but delayed her actual celebration until after school and work so we would have more time. I did get one quick picture of her in her cute ladybug shirt in the morning.

After dinner, sweet Annie got to try her first dessert - a chocolate chip cookie! After seeming curious about it, she took one bite, spit it out, and threw most of it to Holly. Cade didn't think that was too wise. He said "I would have eaten that"!

We gave her a little grocery cart and a book for her birthday. Dinner was pretty messy, so she was already in her jammies at present time.

Celebrating with our baby girl was such a blessing, and we love her so much!
