In Between Stuff

"Little stuff, big stuff, in between stuff, God sees it all the same"

This is a line from "Do Everything" by Steven Curtis Chapman, a song that plays pretty often on the radio here that describes doing everything, no matter what it is, to the glory of God. While we've had a lot of "big" things in our lives recently (hence the slacking on the blog), the in between stuff is not only fun in the moment, but is a reminder of our everyday blessings.

One Saturday last month while Chance was at work, I took Cade, Annie, and Garrett to play in the self defense room at my office. Especially on rainy days, I am so thankful that Chance and I both have offices that are really just big playgrounds for kids of all ages.

On what could have been a very ordinary Tuesday night, we got 4 of the most special visitors ever!! Wes Taylor was the worship leader at our church for several years and our family loved his music and his welcoming spirit. We got to know him and his wife (my former student!) pretty well and have stayed in touch with them after they moved to Colorado and had sweet little Hudson. We also have been so happy to stay in touch with Laurinda, our former pastor, who moved to San Antonio before Wes left. Yes, our church had a rough transition time a few years ago, but we are happy to report that it is still our home and has rebounded nicely! Anyway, the fates all aligned, and Wes, Meghan, Hudson, and Laurinda all happened to be in College Station one night. We had them over to our house and it was WONDERFUL! Cade could barely eat dinner knowing that his musical hero was coming over. Just hearing all of them talking in the same room made us feel so happy! We don't have any pictures, but a great highlight was Wes holding Hudson while jumping on the trampoline with Cade. And we all managed to squeeze into a selfie! To borrow Laurinda's hashtag - #excessivejoy

Cade's school sponsors the Greens Prairie Rodeo each spring. We've had beautiful weather and fun company the past two years! Cade and Garrett helped Annie brave the firetruck, the boys had great fun in the bounce house battle thing (I'm sure it had a name), and Annie took a terrifying ride on the little train.

And later that day... the temperature rose above 80, which means my kids thought it was HOT! The neighborhood pool was open, so why not go? I have video proof that Cade jumped in multiple times. Annie had great fun splashing, and I contorted myself all kinds of ways to get pictures of the kids and stay close to them while never actually touching the water.

Whatever you do
It all matters
So do what you do
Don't ever forget

To do everything you do to the glory of the One who made you,
Cause He made you
To do
Every little thing that you do
To bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace
