First Grade Finale

The last week of school was full of extra fun days for the kids at Greens Prairie Elementary! They were promised a fun week if they did well with all of the "serious learning" the week before. Cade learned so much this year... he advanced 6 reading levels, learned about 3 dimensional shapes, explored the research process during his project about cougars, and discovered that he is better/faster at math than his mother. I think he and all his classmates deserved the fun week!

A great way to start off a fun week is with a holiday! We were all home for Memorial Day, and started the day by enjoying a perk of all of the rainstorms... the giant puddle in our neighborhood park. They even found some tadpoles!

When the rain came back, we came inside for a Memorial Day craft - the kids made signs for Uncle CJ, Uncle Chris, and Coach Patton to thank them for their sacrifices and service.

When school was back in session, I ate lunch with Cade one day. He looooves having Whataburger for lunch! When I took him back to his classroom, I got to see one of his projects hanging on the wall. The students wrote about what shapes can become, and he wrote about how circles turn into powerlifting weights. Coach's kid through and through!

The rest of the week offered field day, outside water play day, and a pizza party in the classroom. Fast forward to Friday, and you have the last day of school! Cade agreed to take pictures, and showed off that he is ready for 2nd grade! Here's a comparison from the first day to the last day:

I picked Cade and Garrett up from school at early release and took them to Grand Station. This is exactly how they ended kindergarten, and I think/hope they will be happy ending school this way for many years to come.

Summer, here we come!!!
