Hard Workin' (Little) Man

Cade proudly participated in part of Elite Camp this July, which is for 7-8th graders in the athletic program. For the 2nd year, he kept up amazingly with the 7th graders and enjoyed every sweaty minute of camp. Of course, running was his favorite, but he also tried very hard with the tire flips, battle ropes, and jumping competitions. I'm so thankful for the coaches who include him and the young athletes who really treat him like a teammate.

I love these two pictures. When Cade got a little nervous about the next level in the jumping competition, he automatically reached out for Chance's hand. Even though Chance's job takes him away from us pretty often, when Cade needs his Daddy, Chance is always there. And with just a little bit of encouragement from Chance, Cade can do anything he puts his mind to.

Obviously, a better mom would have a picture of Cade getting up onto the next level with Chance's help (and he did), but I apparently chose that moment to stop furiously pressing the picture button on my phone. Jeez.

Cade earned his keep that week by also helping Chance cut down a tree in the backyard. Look at that concentration and sweat!

We can't have all work and no play during the summer! Cade and Garrett had a fun sleepover one night.

PS - Annie went to Elite Camp too on the days that I watched Cade for a little while. She didn't work quite as hard as her big brother, but she had a great time playing with Caroline and rearranging the equipment.
