Songs, Splashes, and a Sleepover

More summer fun from last week - Mainly Music and a visit from Natalie!

We attended Mainly Music at First Baptist Church as we have the past two years. I think the songs and rhymes are precious, but Cade didn't enjoy it as much this year as he has in the past. It was his first time to attend without a friend, and I think he may be outgrowing some of the activities. Time sure flies! His favorite song is one that involves a shaker.

The last day of music camp is always a splash day. The director always has great ideas for fun messes, and a highlight this summer was the shaving cream table. Everyone smelled so good!

Ah, my son in a pretty princess pool. Maybe we'll sign up for baseball or something next summer :)

Mmmm... watermelon with a side of shaving cream.

Thursday afternoon we had a wonderful little visitor - Natalie! She stayed with us all afternoon and even spent the night! While Chance was at work the whole time! This was the longest the kids have ever spent with each other and it was so much fun. I was completely amazed at how many activites we did in the six hours they were awake together, and at how TIRED I was after they went to bed! My respect for people with two or more children has grown by leaps and bounds.

The kids always love our sand table. I gave them straws to see what happens when you blow the sand. Thankfully, no one had the idea to inhale!

Here's my next brilliant idea: Our playdoh was getting kind of dried out, so I thought I'd let Cade and Natalie mix some things in it before I threw it away. Everyhing started out nice and neat and colorful.

About two minutes later:

Things got out of hand in a hurry, and then we had an impromptu bath. Then, the kids were ready for some swinging. I think they are outgrowing the "big kid" swings already!

Everybody jump, jump!

They got to watch a show while I fixed dinner. They were pretty zoned out by this point.

We absolutely loved having Natalie over. Reading bedtime stories to two kids was a true joy. I am so thankful that Kelsey and I have stayed friends after their move to Houston, and we can't wait to see our friends again in a few weeks!
