Running Ninja

Not to brag, but Cade is doing some awesome things these days! At the beginning of December, Cade ran in the 2nd annual Kids Marathon in College Station. It is a 1.2 mile event that kicks off the B/CS Marathon, which is the largest in the state! Even as a non-runner I get excited about these things! The kids marathon fell on a day with record low temperatures - it was 29 degrees when the 5 and 6 year old age group ran! Chance and I proudly supported our son, though! Cade's running buddy from school decided not to run, so brave Daddy stepped up so Cade wouldn't have to run by himself. Even after we saw several friends at the race, Cade still wanted Daddy with him. I have to say that I'm glad he didn't want his mama :)

Here they are, ready to go!

Rounding the first corner, and Cade REALLY needed to potty at this point! An important race lesson was learned.

I ran almost the whole route trying to get pictures, but I mainly got a lot of blurs. After a quick stop, Cade was happy to take celebratory pictures at the end!

It is cute to see how proud he is of his medal!

Cade got good practice for the marathon with the Pony Express program at school. Once a week in PE, students run laps around the playground. The coaches keep track of the laps, and students earn a toe token (necklace pendant) for every 25 laps they run. Kindergartners are asked to run 4 laps a week, and I'm proud to say that Cade runs at least 7. His goal is always 8, and I was so happy that I got to watch him in PE last week when he met his goal. I'm not sure how long the lap is, but I know that I got a little winded when I ran one with him. He truly loves running and is very focused the whole time.

Getting his first dot from Coach Hayes. He does not like to wash the dots off of his hand for several days!

Lap #4

Eight dots for eight laps! I brought Cade lunch afterwards, and he thought it was hilarious to cover me up in the picture.

Another really fun activity is karate. Last month, students had pictures taken at the studio with amazing results!

How can our sweet boy be so fierce?

Last weekend, Cade graduated to the orange belt. We are so proud of him!

Nana, Papa, and Oma all came to the graduation ceremony, and we celebrated afterwards at Freebirds. Cade practiced his reading by reading almost every word in one of his cards!

We are so proud of the smart and strong boy that we have.
