Our end of the year fun actually started on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. I surprised Cade with lunch from Chick fil A at his school. It was so fun to see his happy face! He always wants me to take pics of him with his friends.
On Saturday, the kids were looking especially cute at the playground.
Then we went to one of Cade's classmate's birthday party. It was at a park that had a splash pad and a playground - how perfect! The splash pad was freezing, but Annie didn't seem to mind at all!
The kids were so active that this is my only picture of Cade and the birthday boy. They had a blast!
On Sunday, Cade (and his parents) had a major growing up moment. Cade had his first "by himself" playdate. An older boy from across the street invited Cade to walk down to another house with him to shoot baskets. Chance and I agreed that these were very trustworthy boys and watched him go down the street, almost as emotional as if he was walking off to college. He just seems like he is growing up so fast! He had such fun shooting baskets with the guys, and came home about an hour later dripping with sweat and grinning. I see a lot of this happening this summer!
On Memorial Day, we took the kids fishing at Brother's Pond. After catching one exciting fish, we then went to the playground and enjoyed a relaxing morning together!
Tuesday was Field Day at Cade's school. Despite having to move into the gym because of some insane rain we had last week, it was very well organized and energetic. Each classroom had a color, and Cade's room was the red team. The gym was one yelling, bouncing rainbow! The events included thread the needle (hula hoop pass down a line), scooter races, 3 legged race, and an egg-spoon race. I loved the teamwork and sincere cheering from all of the kids. My competitive nature made me yell a little louder than I probably should have, but it was great fun to be a spectator.
Not to be left out, Annie's class at daycare is gearing up for a fun summer too. Her teachers are so creative with their pictures and crafts. Check out our beach beauty!
Wednesday afternoon was a little tough, as it was Cade's last day of Kids Klub. This is a super-fun after school program that he attends on most days. The counselors make sure it is packed with activity and loving care each day, and that has totally helped ease by guilt over not being able to pick him up from school. Here is Cade with his favorite counselor.
Thursday morning was another parenting highlight - the kindergarten end of the year program and sing along. Cade's school does not do a kinder graduation (thank goodness), but they do offer all of the students an opportunity to sing favorite songs and showed a video of all of the pictures from the year. The songs were precious and I was so glad that both Chance and I could attend. Afterwards, we went to Cade's classroom to get all of his end of the year projects and say goodbye to some teachers. We have been so blessed by his teachers this year, especially Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Padilla!

And... Friday was the last day of kindergarten. I was so happy that we got to school at the same time as Garrett, so the two boys got to walk in together to close out their year. Garrett's mom and I texted later that day about how different and less scary it was to drop them off together on the last day than the first week of kinder! It was such a growing time for all of us. Cade's school had early release on Friday, and we were treated with a wonderful visit from the Johnson family! We played at the playground for awhile and then cooled off at our house for a little while before they left for Kelsey's mom's house. We love our friends!
And that does it! An epic post that hopefully captivated all of the goodness of last week. HAPPY SUMMER!
