Our first stop was the baby chick pen. I have great memories of this from childhood. It is a much more controlled (and humane) environment than it was back then, and I couldn't wait to take Cade! Of course, I was totally not prepared for him to be SCARED of the 4-day-old baby chicks.

Mama having much more fun than son

Giving it a try with Opa
Oma holding a vicious creature
So far, Cade is not too sure about the fair
The goats were much more fun, and Cade could have petted this little one all night.
The cows were pretty relaxed
Our next stop was the food tent, where we had typical fair food - sausage on a stick
Cute pictures, but no sausage was actually eaten :)
One thing Cade did like was the games. He convinced Oma and Opa to let him play the shark fishing game.
A proud winner of an obnoxiously large prize!
My mom's birthday cake was funnel cake. Once Cade got over the fact that it didn't look like a regular cake and didn't have icing, he decided it was pretty delicious.
Finally, by the time we had to leave, Cade decided the fair was pretty fun and somewhat smiled for a picture.
Mom, it was great to be with you on your birthday! Thanks for taking us to the fair!
