I couldn't believe how much stuff we packed for 4 people for only 3 days! Chance was a champion at arranging the car. After much planning of who was sitting where, deciding on movies, games, and snacks, we were very proud of ourselves for leaving only 2 minutes late. Our trip started off with a stop at the outlets in Cypress, lunch at Taco Cabana, an impromptu trip to Target, and 2 feedings for Annie. So 4 hours after leaving our house, we were one hour into our trip. Wow. At this point, I thought the trip was ruined because I realized I forgot my camera. After many tears and wondering "what kind of mother forgets her camera on her baby's first vacation", I finally calmed down. OK, I actually didn't calm down until the next day, but at least I stopped crying. Here's to being thankful for cell phone cameras!
We really had a great time. It was not the most relaxing vacation, but seeing the joy on your child's face as he sees his favorite things is so very special.
As soon as we got to Moody Gardens, Cade did the exact same thing as he did last year - race to take a picture under the big shark. Same shark, same boy, same pose. This kid likes a routine!

We went to the Aquarium twice, and the highlights were the seals, penguins, stingrays, and of course the sharks. I honestly think Cade could have spent all 3 days in the shark observation room. The Aquarium is my favorite pyramid too; watching the creatures swim around is really peaceful.
We also visited the Discovery Pyaramid, which has an exhibit about music this year. Cade played a harp and a walking piano. He also talked on a speaker with Chance across the room. They had the speakers set up with Skype so you could see who you were talking to. You can even see Chance's face on the screen!
The "Dinos Alive" exhibit returned this year, which Cade was also super-excited about! Just when we think he has outgrown his love of dinosaurs, something like this brings it back in full force! There was also a 3D movie about dinosaurs, which he loved.
In an effort to keep Annie in a good mood, she and I stayed at the condo one morning while Chance and Cade ate breakfast at IHOP and went to the beach. Their plan was just to walk a little on the beach to find some seashells. One thing led to another, and a very wet boy returned to Annie and me!
We also had fun just hanging out as a family. Annie had some good tummy time, slept through dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, and we had some delicious custard at Rita's. Yes, we went on vacation and our only family picture is at an ice cream shop. Oh well.
Our last morning, we stopped by the beach for a quick picture of Annie on the sand. Cade had his first trip to the beach when he was 6 weeks old and we went to Corpus for Chris and Jessi's wedding. Annie was 7 weeks old here.

Poor 2nd child... no cute beach props for her :(
We stopped at the Houston Museum of Natural History on the way home. This was a great place! I didn't allow enough time to see everything, so we focused on their awesome dinosaur and Africa exhibits. I've never seen such huge statues and skeletons!
No visit to Houston is complete without a stop at James Coney Island. This was the least we could do for Chance since we were there 2 days before his birthday!
