Bucket List Crackdown

Like most families with kids, we made a summer bucket list back in May. We had lots of fun putting it together. Each item is written on a popsicle stick and we keep them in a jar in the dining room. The plan was to move the sticks from one jar into another as we completed items on the list. Well, we sat down last week to see how we were doing, and we have got some work to do! We may have been a bit ambitious with our plans and not taken into account the heat and needing to be home for Annie's naps. But, as I do not like to have items not crossed off of a list, we made a schedule (I do love a schedule!) and got some bucket list items accomplished pretty quickly. Don't worry... this isn't just for the sake of crossing things off a list... Cade has fun too!

Last weekend we had a fun trip to Research Park to feed the ducks. We haven't done this in a long time and it was fun to take Annie with us! We went later than we used to (I think it was almost 9:00 am when we got there... almost 2 hours after our usual arrival!) so the ducks weren't quite as hungry as they usually were. But we did get to see some huge fish!

And Holly went with us! Poor dog... she gets so little activity these days that all of the swimming and walking at the park wore her completely out! But look how happy she is :)

Annie seemed to enjoy her time outside. After spending some quality time chewing on her fingers and an adventurous ride across the rocks, she took a little stroller nap.

Our last stop was in some shallow water so Cade could practice balancing on rocks as he crossed. The water was so shallow that it was easy to spot all of the minnows. Cade REALLY wanted Chance to catch some. So, at the expense of one of our nice water bottles, Chance tried and tried to catch those little fish. Unfortunately, the cup was small and the minnows were fast, so they were not successful. I enjoyed watching them concentrate so hard on their task together, though. I have no doubt that these two guys can do anything together!

After a "slight" mishap when trying to get out of the water, it was time to head home!

The next day, Cade and I got to have some special time together by riding his bike down to the playground. Bike rides and the playground were on the bucket list, and while we have done these several times, I finally remembered to take some pictures!

Several bucket list items involve food :) Here we are at Bahama Buck's (sno cones), Polly's (aka "the good queso place"), the Farm Patch (where Cade decided he wants his own little cactus), and Spoons.

I'm so thankful for all of the memories we are making this summer!
