Annabeth - 4 Months

Last Thursday our sweet girl turned 4 months old! I remember this being such a big milestone with Cade, and it is no different with his baby sister! She is getting more interactive with us every day and has no trouble expressing her opinions to us!

What is Annie up to these days?

Eating: Has started eating about 8 times a day again, which is making me a little nervous about my return to work next week! She eats twice during the night, and we I would like to drop one of these soon. At her 4 month appointment, Dr. Parr gave us the go ahead to start baby food whenever we are ready. This may get postponed a little bit as we have to work on carving out time in the busy mornings and nights to do this. But, when she sits at the table with us she is very interested in grabbing whatever she can reach, so maybe she is ready! Not that this is really eating, but she puts anything she can get ahold of in her mouth! She helped me bake cookies the other day and "chewed" on a measuring spoon the whole time.

Sleeping: Not so much! While we can usually count on 2 naps a day, the nights are kind of a struggle. Her naps are actually longer than her stretches of sleep at night! Thankfully, we know this is just a phase and we will just power and drink coffee through it. Heaven help us when we are standing in front of students and charged with enlightening them with knowledge, though!

Growing: YES! She is good at this!! Annie's 4 month appointment gave us the following stats: Weight - 14 lbs, 5 oz; Length - 25 inches; Developmental milestones - all right on track! She holds her head up really well and pushes up high during tummy time. She is kind of working on rolling over, but seems more interested in trying to sit up. This picture was taken at a doctor appointment a few days before her well visit, when we were getting some cream for some pesky dry skin on her head. Look at how big she is!

Enjoying: Lots of cooing, talking, and smiling to charm us all! Annie especially likes being outside and will talk to the clouds forever. I took her 4 month pictures outside to help us remember how much she liked the outdoors at this age. She also got her first taste of grass during the photo shoot.

Inside, she has lots of fun playing on her Einstein mat and grabbing at the toys. She likes to be in her Bumbo so she can be near us. Favorite songs include Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and You are my Sunshine. And her favorite person is Big Brother Cade!! The feeling is mutual... they just love each other! Cade told me the other day that when I pick him up from kindergarten, he will be happier to see Annie than me.

Newest tricks:

Giving kisses! To Cade only! Her kisses are too cute - she opens her mouth, sticks out her tongue, and squeals. Cade was cuddling with us one night and I got a few pictures of them loving on each other.

She found her toes!

And she has laughed one time - when Cade snorted when he was laughing. The sound of both of them giggling was one of the most beautiful noises I have ever heard. Sometimes having two kids feels like it is going to send me over the edge, but moments like that let me know that it is all worth it.

I think our kids look quite a bit alike... do you? This is each of them at 4 months sitting in the chair that Papa made.

And what is a blog post without an outtake? Sister may have inherited her brother's dislike for extended photo sessions!
