Fun to Run

A couple of weeks ago Cade's school hosted a fundraiser called Boosterthon. Students ran laps outside, and loved ones pledged money per lap. This was a GENIUS idea for many reasons: 1) Chance and I aren't having to beg our friends and family to buy cookie dough or discount cards; 2) The kids were encouraged to make pledge calls, and no one can resist Cade's voice; and 3) This got the students very fired up about running! The goal was for each child to run 30-35 laps (one lap is 1/16 mile). Cade did this with ease!

I'm so thankful that Nana and Papa could go cheer Cade on while Chance and I were working. I scooted out of work right after my class ended to take Cade a healthy post-run lunch from Sonic.

Thanks to my friend Joy for this awesome picture!

Chance's mom got a few pictures too, but it was hard to keep up with a moving target (until he stopped at the end for Papa to congratulate him)!

Here I am with my super-speedy boy at lunch! It was such fun to have some special one-on-one time with him.

After we ate outside, we went into the cafeteria so Cade could introduce me to his friends and play with his obnoxious Sonic toy (a microphone. who thinks of these things?)

We were so proud of Cade for running so joyfully and his understanding that the pledges were for his school, not his piggy bank. Let our lives of public school fundraisers begin!
