We also spend LOTS of time at the pool! It is very hard to get pics of the kids because Cade is always underwater and Annie is always chasing the fountains on the "island" at the pool in our neighborhood, but they tried very hard to be still one day for me.
We had breakfast at Cracker Barrel with my parents and brother for Father's Day. All of the boys apparently secretly called each other and dressed exactly alike!
The Dixie Chicken celebrated its 40th birthday last month. In a quick, awesome/questionable parenting decision, we decided to take the kids to the place where we made so many fun memories in college. As we strolled up to the Back Porch of the Chicken, Roger Creager (so happy!!) was playing and we "almost" had a flashback to our younger years, except that we were carrying and holding hands with our precious children, instead of holding drinks and holding hands with each other :) Ahhh... times have changed, but the smell of the Chicken has not! There were tons of people there celebrating, so we didn't stay very long, but I was so glad we went. Our first attempt at a family selfie was a total fail, as we were outside in the blinding sun.
We saw one of Annie's daycare teachers inside and she took a little bit better pic for us.
Cade was very interested in the pool tables, so we promised him that we will eat lunch at the Chicken one day and let him play pool. Never too young to appreciate the highlights of Northgate.
Some of our friends hosted an outdoor movie at their house. It was a late night for Cade, since the movie started an hour after his usual bedtime! He was so excited to get to stay up late. The weather was nice, there were no mosquitoes, and we had tasty snacks of real (not microwave) popcorn and smores. It was a great time with great friends!
Cade and I also went to his first play, the Shrek Musical. It was incredible! The acting and singing was very well done, and it was especially fun to meet the cast after the show. I have great memories of my mom taking me to plays, and I'm so happy to continue the tradition with Cade!
Another thing keeping us busy in June has been Cade's sports camps! He participated in soccer, basketball, and track camps. We are really proud of him for trying new things! And we are really thankful that thanks to Chance's coaching job, these camps are free!
Cade and Caroline had good, sweaty fun at soccer camp
I was accused of being a helicopter mom by taking pics at basketball camp (thanks, Coach Chance), so I didn't take very many. Cade has never tried basketball until this year, but it sure helps that his new friend Jace's dad is the head basketball coach at CSHS. The camp was a little short staffed for the number of kids they had, so Chance ended up helping out all week. He got a free t-shirt :)
Track camp was Cade's favorite activity, and it lasted all month. The coaches were great, and the kids were active the entire time! They did basic running drills and also learned how to do hurdles, long jump, high jump, and relays. The moms got our workout in too; we walked and ran the track while our kids were busy. It was a great group of kids and moms! Chance was able to join us when he was off work, and he even spent his birthday morning with us at the track.
What did Annie do during these camps? Drink water and eat squeezies, of course!
No, these days are not lazy, but they are pretty much perfect for us.
