Run, Run, Rudolph

Cade participated in the 2nd annual Kids Marathon on December 13. Last year, it was in the low 20s when he ran, and this year we were all in shorts. God bless Texas! Cade was super excited about running and we were super excited that he was confident enough to run without a parent this year!

Our whole family came this year to cheer Cade on! The run was during Annie's nap, so the picture of me holding her is how she spent most of the afternoon; death grip on Mama!

Cade was in the front line when the race kicked off, and that is where he stayed! Chance found him about 1/4 way through the route, and Cade was in 3rd place. He sped up, and ended up getting 2nd place in his age group! What a speedy guy! We are so proud of him!

Two of Cade's friends from his preschool, Davis and Caroline, also ran the race. We had a fun reunion with their families after the finish line!

Cade took awhile to settle down from his runner's high after the race, but Annie calmed down pretty quickly.

The next week, I went to Cade's school to watch him run laps. Once a week, they run laps in PE. 1st graders are asked to run at least 5 laps. The past 3 weeks, Cade has run 10 laps! Each lap is 0.2 mile, so he runs 2 miles once a week in PE! He really likes his coach, and the feeling is mutual. Cade is so calm about all of his running success... he simply records his laps, sits on the wall, and then gets a drink of water after the time is finished. Many of his friends run up to ask how many laps he got this week, and he very casually answers them and goes about his routine. But he did seem excited that I came to watch!
