The park in our new neighborhood is only a half mile from our house, so we walk there at least once a weekend. The playground is really great and there is lots of open space to run and explore.
Cade's class learned about Dr. Seuss a few weeks ago, so one Friday evening we had a Dr. Seuss themed dinner of green eggs and ham and a Cat in the Hat "hat" made out of strawberry and banana slices.
Our wonderful friends Kelsey, Natalie, and Henry drove in from Houston to visit us a few weeks ago. We are so thankful they made the trip and catching up with them was exactly what we needed... we sure miss our every Thursday playdates with the Johnson family! We played at our house for awhile and then went to our usual lunch spot - Chick fil A.
After our friends left last Saturday, the weather turned pretty yucky so we came up with some inside activities. First, Cade helped me bake cookies for church. Please notice the swords on the kitchen counter... it was a quick transition from a sword fight to baking!
Then, we turned the tower of storage containers into a drum set. Very noisy and very fun!
This past week my mom came in to help while Chance was gone. It was such a relief to have someone that could completely focus on Cade while I graded papers, worked on nursery projects and even slept in until 7:30 one morning! One project that we all worked on together was a "sculpture" that Cade had to make for his Kindermusik class this week. We decided on a pretty easy design of a monster made out of a plastic bottle. Cade completely did this on his own (except cutting out the mouth... not quite old enough for an x-acto knife!) He was so proud of the finished project and I was proud of his hard work.
And we did something that I remember fondly from my Oma and Opa's house... we made mud pies! Cade still does not love getting messy so we stayed very clean, but he really enjoyed figuring how much water and dirt to use and mixed in dirt and leaves to change things up a little.
I am so thankful for my sweet, big boy that is such a big helper, so patient, and always has a smile for his mama during our special time together!
