The Waiting

Well, here we are... April 9... Little Lady's due date! I sure thought we would be holding our little girl right now, but she seems quite content where she is! I know it is in God's hands when she will come, and I remind myself of that about 1000 times a day. His timing is always better than ours. When I worked at St. Joseph Health Center, my boss, Sister Alice, would always tell me that I was getting a lesson in patience when I would deal with difficult things at work. I haven't worked at the hospital for almost 7 years and Sister Alice passed away about a year ago, but her words stick with me, and obviously God is STILL teaching me that lesson!

We took the 40 week picture last night. Thankfully, Cade's comments about the size of my belly have decreased. I'm afraid he thinks this is normal for me now! Random strangers, however, still have a lot to say to me. I could go on and on about this, but I do not wish to raise my blood pressure. Summary - pregnant women do not need to be reminded of their size or asked "insightful" questions like "Are you still pregnant?". Period.

In the meantime... we've stayed pretty busy the past few weekends! I accidently missed posting about this earlier... we attended Caroline's 5th birthday party on Easter weekend. It was a pajama party at a park, and it was cute to see all the kids running around in their PJs! Caroline's parents organized some fun games for the kids in between playing on the playground and eating donuts. At first, the kids did not seem too enthused by listening to the directions.

But the pillowcase/ sack races ended up being really fun!

And who doesn't love doughnuts?

This past weekend, we were extremely active! Friday night we attended a Cougar baseball game. Cade loves these because there is plenty of room to run around behind the stands. Before other kids got there, Cade and Chance practiced their pitching.

Then we headed to Kyle Field for "Friday Night Lights"! This is really just a glorified practice with music playing, but the atmosphere was so fun and it was a great recruiting event.

Saturday morning we headed to John Crompton Park for a little fishing!

After another Cougar baseball game that afternoon, we headed to a surprise party for a coach that night. Somehow Chance and I both missed the idea that this was a dress up/ grown up/ don't bring your kids party. As Chance and Cade showed up in shorts and (nice) t-shirts and I was squeezed into the only pair of maternity jeans that still fit, we were greeted at the door by a lovely young woman in a short red cocktail dress. Oh dear. Needless to say, we stayed just until the very surprised 30 year old birthday guy got there and hightailed it out, with a quick stop at the gas station to get Cade a treat for being so good at the party. Quite the night.

Sunday took us to church and an Aggie baseball game. By Sunday night, Cade actually asked if he could just play with his cars by himself. We wore that kid out! But despite all the activity, his sister was not ready to join us!

I finished my semester last week and I'm so thankful for a little extra time during the day to spend with Cade. I stopped by his school last Wednesday during music time. The kids absolutely love when Mr. D comes and plays his guitar.

Cade and I did a fun craft project this afternoon - we made an abacus! I've gotten several emails lately about these and Cade is quite interested in math, so it was good timing. He did almost everything by himself and seems quite proud of his creation.

And tomorrow... the waiting continues I guess! My plan for tomorrow is to clean the house, and I can honestly say that I would rather give birth than mop our floors. Come on, Little Lady! Help your Mama out!
